PBib::PBib

PBib::PBib is a versatile Perl module that functions similarly to BibTeX. It has the unique ability to be extensible in three dimensions: bibliographic databases (e.g. BibTeX, OpenOffice), document file formats (e.g. Word, RTF, OpenOffice), and styles (e.g. ACM, IEEE).

In order to use PBib::PBib, simply include it in your Perl program using the command "use PBib::PBib;". Additionally, incorporating Biblio::Biblio and creating a new instance ($bib) is recommended.

Creating a new instance of PBib::PBib is done with the code "my $pbib = new PBib::PBib('refs' => $bib->queryPapers());". From there, call the "convertFile" function to process and convert the input file into the desired format.

The developer of PBib::PBib created the module as a replacement for BibTeX for MS Word, with the specific goal of enabling various sources for bibliographic references, including database systems like StarOffice. PBib::PBib is now easily extendable in multiple ways, including bibliographic styles (ACM style, IEEE style), document formats (Plain text, (La)TeX, Word, RTF, OpenOffice), and bibliographic database formats (bibtex, refer, tib, and others with different mappings to database fields).
