PeaExtractor is a free and versatile software for extracting RAR and ZIP files, spun off from the PeaZip project. With support for over 180 archive formats, it can handle various file types including 7Z, ACE, CAB, BZ2, ISO, GZ, PAQ, PEA, TAR, ZIP, and ZIPX. PeaExtractor is compatible with Windows, Linux, and can be used as portable software.

PeaExtractor is an excellent alternative to programs such as 7-Zip, PeaZip, WinZip, and WinRar for performing any unzip / unrar / untar task. However, the project is solely intended to provide a simple, intuitive, and efficient GUI for decompressing archives rather than to provide a comprehensive, multi-purpose, file, and archival management utility like the aforementioned applications. There are no in-archive browsing and searching or file compression features provided in order to keep the user experience focused on the simplest way to extract files.
This alternative approach to decompression allows minimal user interaction. There is a single pass wizard to set options and confirm extraction, and little or no prior knowledge is necessary for working on compressed archives. To extract a supported file with PeaExtractor, simply drag and drop the archive onto the application, set options if needed (output directory, password for decryption of encrypted archives, overwrite or skip existing files, extract to new folder) and confirm extraction with the OK button. Alternatively, direct extraction (extract here and extract to new folder) is possible from the system's context menu without requiring further user's feedback.
Any kind of file can be passed to PeaExtractor, and the software will try to work with unknown extensions using known archive structures. In this way, PeaExtractor can disassemble Office files, exe, dll, and other compound container file formats. PeaExtractor is a highly efficient software for anyone looking for a simple and intuitive way to extract files.
