PhotoDirectory is a Java-based application that facilitates the easy organization of digital images. The project has been developed with a focus on maintaining a systematic order of pictures that can be easily accessed without the need for any specialized software or databases. PhotoDirectory is designed to run on Java version 1.5 or higher; the latest version is recommended. In case, you have an older version, you will not be able to install and run this app on your system. Furthermore, to utilize the application optimally, you may need to specify which Java Virtual Machine (VM) to use, depending on your system specifications.

For the Macintosh operating system, I have included an application package that seamlessly performs every necessary action on its own. Even if you are using a different operating system, this is an excellent time to try it out. The key features of PhotoDirectory include multithreaded IO-intensive operations, functional menus (such as import, move, and others), efficient searching of pictures within the library, details view with zooming options, and the ability to edit images in external applications.

For Macintosh users, PhotoDirectory provides an additional benefit of editing pictures in GraphicConverter located in the /Applications directory. However, this feature is not limited to Macintosh users as other operating systems will soon be provided with a customizable option to edit images in external applications.

PhotoDirectory is one of the most versatile digital image organization software available in the market today. To run this software, you will require Java 1.5 or above. The latest release of this app has fixed an export bug that caused multiple copies of images with the same name to be exported. Moreover, a user-configurable external app feature has been added that enables users to rotate, open in external apps, and perform various other functions on the images with ease.
