PHREL is a software that limits the rate of access for each host.
The PHREL software functions as a per host rate limiter, keeping track of incoming traffic to a server and configuring a rule within IPTables when a certain threshold is met. This inserted chain has the option to either rate limit or block the offending host for a set period of time.
To properly utilize PHREL, several requirements must be met, including GNU make (tested with 3.79.1, 3.80), GNU g++ (tested with 2.95.3, 3.2, 3.3, 4.0), libpcap (tested with 0.8.0, 0.8.3), and iptables.
This latest release features the removal of command line thresholds, as they are no longer necessary if they are specified in the configuration file. PHREL offers a useful solution for those in need of rate limiting and blocking for certain hosts.
