pita

Pita is a client-server music player that utilizes a daemon process called pitad. This daemon process maintains a queue of music files which it plays through the sound system. The player can be manipulated by various clients, allowing for things such as adding songs or moving through the queue.

To properly use Pita, there are some requirements that need to be met. These include Python, Pyxiph, and pymad. With those prerequisites in place, the user can enjoy all of the features that Pita has to offer.

In the most recent release, there have been some notable updates. Support for file metadata has been added, which requires libextractor-python. Additionally, a pygtk pitastat client has been included. There have also been various cleanups, refactorings, and bugfixes to improve the overall functionality of the player.
