PLANster

PLANster is a versatile Web-based application that streamlines coordination of all kinds of activities between friends, such as meetings, dining plans, and events. For this program to work, you will need to install the ADOdb Database Abstraction Library for PHP and MySQL.

The installation process for PLANster is straightforward. Once ADOdb is installed, simply rename the site.conf.php-dist file in the program's config directory to site.conf.php and configure your database connection. Then, go to the main folder and edit setup.php by commenting out the line that says "die('Site already configured')." After this step, call setup.php in your browser, and the script will prompt you to check if your smarty template compile directory is writable, if ADOdb is installed, and if your database connection is working.

If everything checks out, you can click "Initialize database" to create the database layout. Just be sure to remove the setup.php script or reactivate the "die(...)" line mentioned above, otherwise anyone can reset your database. If you want to import the demo-events, you can use the demo.sql script found in the directory either by copying and pasting its contents in your favorite front-end database tool, such as phpmyadmin, or by using a command-line database client like mysql.
