PNGpong

PNGpong is a sleek and efficient Dashboard widget that has been developed to optimize PNG files. The software is designed to solve the common issue of PNG files containing color 'correction' information that bloats the file size. Fortunately, PNGpong addresses this problem using the highly effective pngcrush tool to eliminate the unwanted data.

PNGpong goes a step further to compress the files by running them through optipng, providing additional compression where possible. Although, it's worth noting that some PNG files may already be compressed to their maximum potential, so no further compression is possible.

The software is incredibly easy to use. Simply drag and drop one or more PNG files onto PNGpong's interface, and the software will handle the optimization process. PNGpong creates a new optimized file by default, with '_PONGED' appended to the end of the filename. However, should you prefer to overwrite the original file, there is an option in the preferences menu.

Overall, PNGpong is essentially a beautiful user interface for the powerful command line tools pngcrush and optipng. The software boasts some stunning graphics that have been designed in Photoshop.
