The Portable X-Chat Aqua is a packaged version of X-Chat Aqua specifically designed for portable devices. It is a lightweight and efficient software solution that offers users a portable instant messaging platform with all the features and functionalities of the original X-Chat Aqua.
Portable X-Chat Aqua is a versatile X-Chat Aqua IRC client that comes in a portable application package, allowing you to carry it with you wherever you go. You can store it on any portable device, be it a USB thumb drive, iPod, portable hard drive, memory card, or even on your internal hard disk - provided it has at least 5 MB of free space. Furthermore, you can use it on any Mac OS X computer, taking all your bookmarks, server list, preferences, and plugins with you.
To install Portable X-Chat Aqua, simply drag the "Portable X-Chat Aqua" folder to your portable device, USB thumb drive, iPod, portable hard drive, memory card, or internal hard disk, provided it has at least 5 MB of free space. After that, clicking on "Portable X-Chat Aqua" will open it from your portable device. If a local copy of X-Chat Aqua is running, an alert window will prompt you to quit it.
When prompted, you can copy your user preferences to Portable X-Chat Aqua to use the preferences you already have on your system. X-Chat Aqua application, preference file, and folder are located inside the bundle: Portable Portable X-Chat Aqua.app/Contents/Resources/app/.
One known issue to note is to configure the download folder path of DCC Settings in Preferences as "~/.xchat2/downloads", and ensure that you have enough space on your portable drive or choose another folder. Portable X-Chat Aqua is packaged using the Platypus script wrapper from Platypus.
