pyNetConv

pyNetConv is a Python library designed specifically for converting network file formats. Since the release of version 0.6, pyNetConv has been able to read and write file formats including Pajek network files (.net), Pajek cluster files (.clu), Cytoscape network files (.sif), Cytoscape node attribute files, and GML files. With the release of version 0.8, the library was upgraded to import tab-separated values exported by Affymetrix Micro Array Suite 5.0 (MAS5) and export this data as Cytoscape node attributes or expression data (.pval file).

pyNetConv is a fantastic tool for developers who wish to create their own software capable of reading and writing networks in the formats supported by pyNetConv. However, if you're looking for a simple way to convert files without creating a program, then the Graphical User Interface (GUI) is for you. The screenshots in the session illustrate how the GUI appears.

The latest release of the software (3.0) comes with several new features such as the ability to support isolated (not connected) nodes in SIF format, direction and isolated nodes support in the SIF, NET, and GML formats, and a NX2netconv() method along with a new filter option in importSIF(). Furthermore, it is now possible to import only selected interaction types to further streamline the conversion process.
