Pythonika

I recently had the opportunity to use Pythonika, a free and open source MathLink module that enables the writing and evaluation of Python code from within Mathematica Notebooks. I am impressed with Pythonika’s ability to automatically translate all basic types from Mathematica into Python and back. This feature allows Python expressions that return integer, complex, or long numbers, lists, strings, tuples, sets or dictionaries to evaluate into the corresponding objects in Mathematica. Dictionaries are returned as list of lists containing key/value pairs.

One of the most amazing features of Pythonika is its functionality for defining Mathematica functions that are written in Python code, while performing transparent conversion of arguments. Even better, it is not even necessary to indicate how many arguments the Python function accepts! Pythonika is clever enough to figure it out. This feature makes the process of developing code more efficient and streamlined.

In conclusion, I highly recommend Pythonika for anyone who works with both Mathematica and Python regularly. Its ease of use and ability to translate all basic types from Mathematica into Python make it a valuable tool for any software developer.
