QCADesigner

QCADesigner is a software tool that has been developed by the ongoing research efforts at the University of Calgary ATIPS Laboratory. The main goal of this project is to create a design and simulation tool that works specifically with Quantum Dot Cellular Automata (QCA). Even though the development of this tool is still ongoing, it is completely free of cost for the research community to use - as is.

QCA is an emerging nanotechnology concept that has the potential to revolutionize future computers. With the use of arrays of nano-scale QCA cells, QCA could be used for all complex computational functions required for general-purpose computation. QCADesigner provides users with intuitive CAD-like user interface tools that are available in more complex circuit design tools, making it a great choice for designing, laying out and simulating QCA circuits quickly.

Some of the key features that make QCADesigner stand out include easy drag-and-drop circuit design, encapsulated PostScript (EPS) printing, support for multiple layers (for signal crossover) and multilingual support for languages like de hu ro fr. This software also comes with a minor bugfix release featuring an improved layer mapping dialog.

However, the most important change in this minor bugfix release is on the Windows front - the new Windows version of QCADesigner now uses the Gaim version of the GTK+ Runtime Environment. This new version comes with upgrades from the dropline.net version of GTK+ which allows for a smoother user experience.
