Qcleaner is a Perl utility that serves as an addon for mail servers and exchangers utilizing qmail integrated with qmail-scanner. It effectively cleans the queue by conducting a directory scan for bounces. Afterwards, it checks if the message is either a qmail-scanner illegal characters/breaks/comments report or a spam (as identified by spamassassin). If confirmed, Qcleaner will modify the atime accordingly. This is done to ensure that the bounced message will be bounced to the local postmaster the next time it is processed and delivery fails.
In my experience, Qcleaner has been highly effective in reducing my queue to about 400% the first time I ran it.
