The Quran Project is a navigation tool for the Quran's texts that aims to be comprehensive.
Version 0.1
License GPL
Platform Linux
Supported Languages English
Homepage www.arabeyes.org
Developed by Mohammed Damt & Mohammed Yousif
The Quran project is an all-inclusive software solution to navigate through texts of the Quran, with the added capability to play readings of selected verses and many other features. The QtQuran project, in particular, also caters for multiple translations of the Quran.

Arabeyes, on the other hand, is a Meta project specifically designed to fully support the Arabic language in the Unix/Linux environment, creating a central location to standardize the Arabization process. Arabeyes, being open-source and free of cost, believes in the ideals of the open-source communities, relying on contributions of computer professionals and enthuses around the globe.

Unlike previous attempts at Arabizing Unix, which were mostly executed by Arab computer science students studying outside of the Arab world, their projects were usually abandoned, resulting in very sparse code and subsequent reinvention of the wheel. Arabeyes aims to eliminate this redundancy and lack of information by not depending on any one person or group. Instead, Arabeyes is aimed at success irrespective of the parties involved.

Arabeyes intends to tackle all aspects of making the use of Arabic on Linux/Unix easily accessible without any difficulty or hindrance. Arabeyes aims to incorporate modifications/additions to existing everyday-use applications, rather than creating new applications. The initial projects currently undertaken include addressing various font/keyboard-mapping issues, the ability to write plain-text Arabic easily, spell-checking Arabic text documents, sending/receiving mail using an Arabic interface, localizing Common Graphical-User-Interface (GUI), and taking Arabic text files to create various enriched documents (TeX, Word, etc.).

Arabeyes acknowledges the importance of documentation in this project, as it is the only way to ensure smooth progress in Arabization. Proper documentation offers a foundation that others can refer to and rely on in the future.

The latest version of qtquran requires qt-3.0.5 and libquran (libexpat, libspeex, and libogg).
