Raine

As a software reviewer, I have had the chance to test out Raine, an arcade game emulator that specifically focuses on emulating M68000 and M68020 games on Taito and Jaleco hardware. The emulator began as an experiment with the Rainbow Islands romset by Aracorn/Romlist, and it has since grown to emulate a wide range of games, including previously unemulated ones that are constantly being added weekly.

One notable improvement in Raine is the sound quality, which has gotten better thanks to the work of Hiromitsu Shioya. To use Raine, you will need to have SDL, Allegro, NASM, and Zlib installed. Once all these tools are installed, you can simply uncompress Raine and edit the makefile if you want to create a debug version of the emulator. Alternatively, you can just build the optimized version for your CPU by typing "make" in the command line.

What's new in the latest release of Raine? Users can now customize the colors and transparency of the GUI, and loading animations should have fewer glitches. The team has also fixed issues with the cave driver and cps2 driver, making it possible to play U.S. Classic Golf. Additionally, Raine now adds sound to Toaplan2 games, and there have been many bug fixes to improve overall stability. Overall, Raine is an excellent emulator for players who want to revisit classic arcade games on their computers.
