repcached

Repcached is a highly efficient and useful patch set that adds data replication features to memcached 1.2.x. With Repcached, asynchronous data replication is highly supported. Repcached is designed to support all memcached commands, including set, add, delete, incr/decr, and flush_all. One of the major highlights of Repcached is its support for single master, single slave. Besides, Repcached ensures that the slave automatically becomes the master if the master goes down.

To install and run Repcached, two new options, namely -x and -X, are added. The -x option takes the hostname or IP address of the master replication server, while the -X option takes the TCP port number of the master. The installation process is streamlined and straightforward. The build can be executed with specific instructions for MCDVER and RCDVER versions.

It’s worth mentioning that Repcached is highly efficient in terms of replication. When new slave servers connect to the master, the entire data copy to slaves is automatically copied. Repcached even supports replication when the slave server is temporarily down or stalled, and during failover, the slave server becomes the new master automatically.
