Ridentd server application is a perfect solution for those who are the most concerned about keeping their local user information private when accessing servers that require ident. With Ridentd as a stand-alone replacement for identd, users can now use a random selection of an ispell dictionary as a fake ident response.
The application assures the same identity during a TCP session using a randomly initialized modulus of the local port. For users who require additional security measures, Ridentd can be started a few times a day from their cron in order to reseed both the random set of dictionary words and the port modulo.
