RLX is a cutting-edge tile-based roguelike game engine library developed using Common Lisp. It offers support for 2.5-D worlds with a restricted z-axis and independent agents referred to as "actors". These actors can be created using CLON, a library that introduces prototype-oriented objects to Common Lisp using a custom syntax.
This versatile engine supports both turn-based and pseudo-realtime gameplay, allowing developers to create games that engage players in unique ways. RLX leverages LISPBUILDER-SDL to provide cross-platform graphics and audio capabilities. The example game "Blast Tactics" works flawlessly on GNU/Linux, Mac OSX, and Windows, though precompiled binaries are still being developed for all platforms.
In addition to these features, RLX also provides basic tools for random terrain generation, simple AI support, a GUI widget set with flexible keybinding options, dynnamic lighting and shadow effects based on ray-casting, and Bresenham's LOS (line-of-sight) implementation.
