Roll Call

Roll Call is an employee in and out board that operates as a secure instant messaging system. Usually, the issue with in and out boards is that people forget to change their status. However, Roll Call has provided a solution that eliminates this problem. With Roll Call, one only needs to remember to change their status when leaving their desk and not when they return.

As soon as you click your mouse or type on your keyboard after being away from your desk, Roll Call automatically changes your status to "desk". If you happen to forget to change your status after leaving your desk, Roll Call will change it to "idle" after a given amount of time.

Changing your status on Roll Call is very convenient. You can use a hotkey or select a status from a popup menu that appears when you right-click Roll Call's tray icon. You can define your own hotkeys for changing your status to "lunch", "home", etc. Moreover, you can change your status no matter what the forefront application is by entering a key sequence.

Roll Call's tray icon represents your status graphically, and changing your status saves you time. Roll Call defaults to a sensible return time when you change your status. If you select "lunch" or "break", Roll Call calculates the current time plus the usual duration of lunch or break respectively. If you select "home", Roll Call calculates the next working day at your typical arrival time. Company holidays and weekends are taken into account when calculating the next business day.

Roll Call provides additional information, making it a valuable tool in offices. The employee record in Roll Call includes a notes section, group list, email address, and phone list. Groups are especially helpful, allowing you to filter the employee list to display only those associated with a particular group.
