SAEAUT SNMP OPC Server Enhanced

I recently had the opportunity to test a software solution that effectively integrates SNMP computer network management and data pre-processing with SCADA using an OPC interface or Web Services. This software package boasts a number of impressive features, making it a versatile tool for managing both managed and unmanaged devices.

In particular, this solution has implemented OPC DA 3.0, 2.05, and 1.0, as well as OPC XML DA, OPC Alarms and Events Version 1.1 and 1.0, and OPC UA 1.1. In terms of protocols, SNMPv2c and SNMPv1 are both supported, and SNMP commands GET, SET, and traps are all utilized. Additionally, the software uses ICMP ping to manage devices without running SNMP agents, displaying round trip time as an OPC variable.

One particularly useful aspect of this software is the method for defining tags in the address space of the OPC server using MIB object identifier (Object ID). This allows for easier validation of Object IDs, as defined Object IDs can be input into the OPC configurator. The software also enables the management of an unlimited number of devices with running SNMP agents.

Pre-processing data using JScripts is made easy with support for global JScript variables, enabling implementation of historical data processing, filtration, or other algorithms. The on-line MIB browser feature allows for the scanning of SNMP manageable devices for their corresponding SNMP variables that correspond to MIB objects.

There is also an IP Scanner feature to scan computer network communities in a defined IP area, and support for logging SAEAUT SNMP OPC Server activities to log-files. Finally, there is a "find" functionality for easily locating items within the address space of the OPC server.

The installation package includes an SNMP OPC Server configurator with a built-in JScript editor, a runtime application (SNMP OPC Server process), an OPC XML-DA wrapper, an OPC UA wrapper, and source code examples for OPC test clients (written in VB6 and VB.NET) for communication with the SNMP OPC server, using OPC DA3 interface or Web Services.

Overall, I would highly recommend this software to anyone looking for a comprehensive and user-friendly solution for integrating SNMP computer network management and data pre-processing with SCADA using an OPC interface or Web Services.
