Save content of text areas and load text files with the Firefox extension.
This software extension adds File Open and Save functionality to editable text fields and areas, effectively converting them into notepads. When installed, a new menu item called Text is created in the context menu of the text areas. This menu has three submenu options for users to choose from, namely Load From, Save As, and Save.
The Load From option opens up the file picker for users to choose a file, which is then loaded into the text area. Save As, on the other hand, allows users to save the contents of the text area to a file selected through the file picker. The Save function automatically saves the file if the file name has already been established, without requiring the user to browse for the file.
While typing within the text area, accessing the aforementioned functionality is very convenient using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+S. This saves you from having to go through the menu every time you want to save your work. The last function, Autosave, automatically saves the file every few seconds if the file name has already been established. You can modify the delay between saves by changing the preference setting extensions.savetextarea.autosave-delay, which defaults to 300 seconds. Additionally, the software saves the files whenever the document is unloaded when the Autosave option is enabled.
