Scheme Scribe

Scheme Scribe (Scribe) is a software that is designed to be a text processor, catering to general purposes with an emphasis on technical document creation. Technical documents such as web pages, technical reports, and API documentations are a few examples of what Scribe excels in handling.

One of the main features of Scribe is that it resembles a markup language like HTML, which means it does not require a user to have computer programming skills. However, upon further inspection, Scribe is revealed to be a high-level programming language. This means it is equipped with advanced features, including objects, higher-order functions, regular and syntactic parsing, and more. It is based on the Scheme programming language.

The tool requires BIGLOO2.4b or later and GNU-MAKE to function. If the user aims to compile the scribe_mod Apache module, they will need the Apache development kit, including the Apache compiler APXS.

To compile, test and install Scribe, the following procedure can be followed:

$ ./configure
$ make
$ make install

This process will also self-test SCRIBE as it compiles the various Scribe documents that make up the documentation.

To compile the Scribe Apache module, users will also need to go through an additional step:

$ make mod_scribe

It is worth noting that the documentation does not explain how to install the mod_scribe Apache module. However, users can refer to the file apache/README for guidance.
