SciPres

SciPres is an impressive system that allows you to create animated presentations with ease. This software was directly inspired by Slithy, a system developed by Douglas Zonker that uses Python as its core programming language. The main difference between SciPres and other presentation software such as PowerPoint is that you use a text editor to script your presentation, much like how LaTeX is used instead of Microsoft Word.

In order to run this software, you will need a few key requirements, including PyOpenGL and Qt 4.0 or higher. Keep in mind that installation may not be a straightforward process, especially if you are using Linux. This is due to the range of Linux distributions available, not all of which have Qt4 installed. Some distributions may also have both Qt3 and Qt4 installed, which can cause further complications. Fortunately, there are step-by-step installation instructions available for Ubuntu, and other distributions can be added to the documentation as needed.

There are multiple ways to install SciPres, depending on the level of privileges you have. If you are the root, simply download the latest rpm file (scipres-1.0.0rc1-1.noarch.rpm) and install it via the terminal. If you are not the root, you can download the latest bundle (scipres-1.0.0rc1.tar.gz), decompress it in a temporary folder, and then run the appropriate command to install the software. The latest version of SciPres comes with some exciting new features, including a comprehensive reference manual, tutorials, and advanced online documentation. The 1.0.0 interface is currently being validated by beta testers and is expected to be released soon.
