Sebastian is an ear training software designed to help users improve their musical listening skills. With gradually increasing problem difficulty and diverse problem types, users learn to identify musical sounds and hear music better.

Sebastian's interface is streamlined to help you achieve a learning 'flow' with minimum distractions, so you can save time and focus more on learning music and physical technique. Teachers can delegate repetitive aural training to Sebastian, which affords students the musical benefits of highly trained ears.
The best ear training takes place when you engage your muscle memory by using a keyboard and feeling sounds. Sebastian allows you to use a MIDI keyboard, but the on-screen keyboard is available to help you learn to map sound to something tangible. Unlike other programs, Sebastian doesn't use drills, which can be boring and distracting. Instead, it provides you with one problem at a time, progressing as you do and holding back where you struggle. It also sneaks in review of problems you missed before.
Sebastian was designed by Dr. Jonathan Crosmer, a software engineer, composer, and violist, who worked with students in aural skills classes when he studied at the University of Nebraska---Lincoln. The program takes a challenging skill and makes it enjoyable for anyone to learn. With Sebastian's gradual problem difficulty increase and problem variation, anyone can improve their ear training skills.
