Simple IPX Bridge

SIB (Simple IPX Bridge) is a software that provides a solution for tunneling IPX and IP frames through a UDP connection across the Internet. It can put the device interface in promiscuous mode, allowing all frames to be received, not just broadcasts or frames for the tunneling server. While initially, SIB defaults to only tunneling IPX frames, this can be changed through the command line.

SIB also filters SMB over IPX to minimize network traffic; however, this feature can be disabled if necessary. Additionally, SIB identifies local MAC addresses and only sends broadcasts and non-local MAC frames to the remote host.

One of the key features of SIB is the ability to compress every frame it tunnels via LZO. However, to utilize this feature, you must have the LZO library installed.

SIB is particularly useful for gaming as there is no real whole network to a whole network connection program that can tunnel IPX, filter SMB, compress it, and work with 2.4.0. Furthermore, every new game for Windows uses IPX for network games.

In the latest release of SIB, a fix for the "divide by zero" bug on alpha has been implemented. Additionally, the hostname resolver has been fixed, and the option to set a local UDP port and bind to a specific local IP has been added. Lastly, MAC lists are now flushed on SIGHUP, enhancing the software's overall functionality.
