The mod_log_sql Analyzer is a software tool designed to analyze Apache web server logs stored in SQL databases. Skeith is a log analyzer and reporter software specifically designed for the mod_log_sql module for Apache. Although it has been reported to work with mod_log_mysql, it has only been tested with mod_log_sql. Once a month or day has been selected, the summary page will display a vague summary of the activity for that specific period. The summary includes the IP addresses or hosts and the users who interacted with the web server. By clicking on any host or user, the end-user can view more detailed information for the selected date.
At any given point, the complete log file for a specific date can be generated, providing the end-user with a complete view of all the requests made to the server as it would have appeared in the original log file.
Skeith is meant to be simplistic, with little configuration required. The user only needs to set the initial date range and provide database connection details. The software is simple to install and operate, with no commands to run.
However, Skeith in its current state is not capable of detecting hacking attempts and only provides information on the requests made. The developers are working to implement the ability to identify questionable hosts and users based on visits, status codes, and objects requested by version 1.0.
