With this tool, you can create a Live CD with your Asterisk installation, and set it up to perform any action that you need your PBX to perform. Slax is perfect for those who want to demonstrate or test Asterisk, as well as for those who want to learn more about it. With the ability to load into RAM, you can have a very powerful backup to rely on in case your Asterisk box goes down.

One of the best features of Slax is its modularity. In the near future, we hope to have a repository of user-submitted modules available for you to easily add to your Slax CD. You may be wondering why there is a need for another distribution, and we believe that there are two primary reasons. Firstly, Slax provides an excellent platform for education about Asterisk. Secondly, it is a tool that helps you create custom Asterisk live CDs quickly and easily. The configuration files have been streamlined and rewritten to make it easier for newcomers to get Asterisk working as their top priority.
