Sound Monitor is a GNOME applet that shows the Esound daemon's current Volume output in the panel.
Sound Monitor is an applet designed for the GNOME panel that allows users to display the current volume output of the Esound daemon. Additionally, users have the option to display the Esound status, which can be Off (error), Standby, or Ready. The applet provides esound server information and also allows for the adjustment of balance and volume for streams and samples.
Esdpvd, an extra program, is included to allow the saving of stream volumes between sessions. The installation process is straightforward. Users can enter the command "make; make install," and the applet will be ready to run. To run the applet, simply select "Panel"->"Add applet"->"Multimedia"->"Sound Monitor."
Additional themes can be found in (gnome-prefix)/share/sound-monitor2. To create a custom theme, refer to the SKIN-SPECS file. Although an applet of this type typically does not require keyboard shortcuts, the applet supports resizing for themes with a button that can be dragged to resize the applet. Users can resize the applet by using the shift+arrow keys, and shift+home will reset the applet theme to its default size.
The latest release includes the addition of an icon and successful build testing in sound-monitor_applet.spec.in. The SKIN-SPECS file is now installed in src/themes/Makefile.am.
