Steg is a cross-platform and portable software, written in C++. This software uses steganography and cryptography techniques to hide data within both uncompressed and compressed images. Supported image formats include JPEG (JPG), TIFF, PNG, and BMP. Steg allows for arbitrary data to be hidden within the image itself, rather than in metadata or comment fields, or appended to the end of the file. This software features an easy-to-use graphical user interface that enables users to fine-tune steganography parameters, evaluate image artifacts, and use both symmetric-key and asymmetric-key cryptography. Additionally, arbitrary data may be hidden as a compressed archive file, and a text comment may also be added.
I developed Steg in my spare time for fun and to learn the basics of the Qt Framework. Most importantly, Steg runs on GNU/Linux, Microsoft Windows, and Apple Mac OS X, making it an incredibly versatile software.
