SYASokoban

SYASokoban is a fantastic clone of the massively popular Sokoban puzzle game that has been around for decades. Just like the original, the objective is to push crates onto designated squares, and the challenge is to do so without getting trapped. We owe the creation of Sokoban to Hiroyuki Imabayashi, who first developed the program in 1982 under the copyright of Thinking Rabbit Inc in Japan. The name Sokoban, which translates to "warehouse keeper" in Japanese, explains the idea behind the game.

It is worth noting that while SYASokoban comes with loads of levels, they weren't developed by the creators themselves. Instead, they were put together from a variety of sources, and the default 90 levels are public domain. However, you have the chance to add even more sets of levels in the data/sokoban/levels folder, as long as they are saved as .txt files. You may refer to existing sets of levels for examples.

SYASokoban offers users several key features, one of which is "Unlimited" undo. In addition, the game has easy-to-use mouse controls and even pathfinding capabilities. Plus, the game comes with many pre-loaded levels, which should keep you entertained for hours. If you make your way through all those levels, you can always add new sets of levels to your gameplay experience.

It's worth mentioning that you'll need an SDL library to run the game, but apart from that, you're good to go. In the latest release of SYASokoban, there is finally support for multiple sets of levels, which is great news for gaming enthusiasts. The update also adds an "Are you sure" messagebox when closing the game and fixes a bug where the game uses a lot of CPU. All in all, SYASokoban is a top-notch puzzle game with excellent features and brings back the nostalgia of Sokoban in a whole new way.
