Tar is used for backing up local files into tar archives with bzip2 compression and gzip compression, and backup verify options. MySQL is used for backup dumps of both local and remote MySQL servers with bzip2 compression for sql dumps, local multiple database dumps specifying the MySQL database dir, remote databases backup in a single SQL dump, and database inclusion and exclusion patterns.
LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) is used for backup dumps of local or remote LDAP directory servers with bzip2 compression for ldif dumps and ldif dump of remote LDAP servers. Tape backup is supported, with backup to tape archives such as DAT and DLT, multi-loader support, eject of tape at backup end, and backup verify.
Laser disc backup to misc laser compact disks including CD/R/RW and DVD/R/RW/RAM is also supported, with eject of device at backup end.
