TappyTux

TappyTux is a kids' educational games suite that started as a typing tutor, but now comes with a modular architecture that lets you play multiple types of educational games on the same engine. The game is optimized for remote displays and is free and comes with artwork and sound under GPL-compatible creative-commons licenses.

Version 2 takes the game to the next level, significantly overhauling the interface and game code, improving sound and music support, and making it modular, so you can play different games on the same engine. The game ships with two modules, tappywords and tappymath, but writing new modules is easy and accessible to beginner programmers.

The game's design enables it to work well in a thin-client lab, now based on GTK2 to enhance look and feel and internationalization support. With the current release, you can enjoy new features, including bug-fixes, merging tappywords into the main tappytux codebase, adding the Italian wordlist and refining the game's speed, scalability, and interaction.
