TCgui is a fantastic frontend for TrueCrypt, offering all the functionalities of the command-line utility (except header backup) and more. However, take note that Usermount only works with fat-volumes. The software is also i18n prepared and can be translated.

In terms of requirements, users will need TrueCrypt 4.3a and Kommander to run the software. To install it, simply run ./installer.sh as the user (not root!) after unpacking the tarball. However, TrueCrypt must be executed with root privileges for the software to work correctly. To achieve this, add the following two lines to your /etc/sudoers file: Defaults:youruser !syslog, !logfile youruser localhost=NOPASSWD : /usr/bin/truecrypt, replacing "youruser" with your username. The first line will disable sudo logging for your user, ensuring that your password is not saved in a logfile.

This new release has made the software POSIX compliant for Ubuntu users. It's important to note that Ubuntu uses a different shell than bash, and the software has been modified accordingly.
