Terra Letras is a plugin for amaroK that retrieves lyrics from the database of Letras.mus.br.
As a proud user of amaroK, I recently had the pleasure of trying out Terra Letras, a lyrics plugin that fetches from the letras.mus.br database. Although simple, I believe the plugin has potential for improvement.
One of the useful features of Terra Letras is that it saves displayed lyrics in your home directory. This way, you can have access to the lyrics even when offline. However, to avoid fetching only Brazilian Portuguese lyrics, you will need to change the default value of the "locale" variable in the beginning of the shell script. Unfortunately, at this time, it is not possible to configure this aspect using a GUI.
The plugin has undergone several upgrades since its initial release. Now, every line's first word is capitalized, resulting in more professional and clean-looking lyrics. Additionally, the plugin now has a GUI that allows you to configure the language of the fetched lyrics (currently en_US or pt_BR). To help users operate more efficiently, the plugin now alerts you when lyrics are not found. The lyrics body also shows empty lines in new paragraphs, due to a configuration problem in the fetcher, and a simple XML header has been added to the lyrics data sent to the player.
Moreover, recent upgrades have fixed the problem of cutting off certain lines, improved error handling, and allowed the plugin to deal with accents while suppressing any unnecessary information from the lyrics server. Lastly, it is important to note that the plugin works with recent versions of amaroK.
