Blue Mango Quest is a 3D arcade game which adds an extension to the gameplay of Pacman.
I recently had the opportunity to try out the Blue Mango Quest project, a 3D arcade game that uses OpenGL and SDL to add new dimensions to the classic Pacman gameplay. The game has a clear objective to extend the gameplay and takes inspiration from traditional FPS games to offer immersive visuals.
One of the key features of Blue Mango Quest is the addition of 20 different items, which provide both bonuses and penalties to players. These items keep things interesting and add an element of surprise to the gameplay.
On top of this, the game comes with an easy-to-use yet powerful 2D level editor, which allows players to create and customize their own levels. This opens up an entirely new creative aspect of the game, and I appreciated the opportunity to experiment and create something unique.
The latest release of Blue Mango Quest includes several updates, including changes to the Controls section and improved visual indicators for players. Additionally, the game now offers players the option to use an "alternate_controls" feature which allows the player to rotate with arrow keys and go sideways with ALT+arrow. This can be activated by editing the config file.
