This interactive software will allow you to create your own customized goalkeeper with top-level skills in handling, reflexes, jumping, and charisma. Players get to choose their starting team from one of six top leagues including England, Italy, Spain, France, Germany, and Netherland. After selecting your team, you can train your character to increase your skills with the Training Screen. You can also check your overall statistics and see how you rank with other goalies.
One interesting aspect of the game is the Contract/Coach Talk Screen. With this feature, you can speak directly to your coach and persuade him to let you play in the next match. The option to move to another team is also available, depending on your performance. Before each match, you can choose your attitude towards the team and get ready for gameplay.
During gameplay, stats for each player of both teams are featured, like goals, injuries, substitutions, etc. The commentary describes the action, and when an opponent striker tries to score, there are three options: Arcade Save, Strategy Save, and Instant Save. Each of these requires a different skillset and is calculated in real-time.
To use the software, players need a CPU of 600+ MHZ and 128MB RAM, an OpenGL graphic card, and at least 16mb of memory. The game has a 30-minute trial limit. All in all, The Goalkeeper game provides an engrossing and challenging gameplay experience that will keep you on the edge of your seats.
