I recently developed a widget called wSpeak, which provides daily quotes from former US President George W. Bush, as a fun exercise. It was a great way to bring a little whimsy to my desktop, especially after creating a more practical widget prior to this one.
The idea came from my friend Marc, who has a daily calendar of Bush quotes and reads them aloud to a group every morning. I thought it would be amusing to share this experience with a wider audience through my widget.
Unfortunately, I've encountered some unexpected pushback while attempting to distribute wSpeak. It seems that some download sites are unwilling to host my widget due to its use of unaltered quotes from our 43rd president. It's a shame that depicting actual statements from a former leader can be deemed too controversial for some.
Despite these challenges, I'm still proud of wSpeak and the amusement it brings to my desktop. If you're looking for a lighthearted addition to your home screen, I'd recommend giving it a try.
