Developed by Thin File
Thin Image Upload is a reliable drag and drop image uploader that can be easily embedded into web pages. The software is equipped with an impressive feature which allows image resizing on the client side, saving valuable bandwidth. Additionally, the applet can filter out files that are not images, making it easy to manage uploads.

Thin Image Upload comes with a highly efficient progress monitor that displays a thumbnail of each image as it's being uploaded. The software comes with the ability to work with a wide range of server-side scripting languages. Before installation, users are advised to ensure that their scripting engine is correctly configured and that the server can accept a file upload.

For PHP users, the installation process is straightforward. Simply place the test.html page and upload.php on your webserver, point your browser at test.html and carry out a file upload. Open thinupload.properties in your text editor, change the URL parameter to point to the uploaded.php file, and then move all files into your webspace. Edit upload.php and set the save path for your uploaded files, ensuring the webserver has sufficient permissions to write to the directory.

For Perl users, simply copy upload.cgi to your /cgi-bin/ directory, change the permissions to 755, and move test-perl.html outside the CGI-bin. Edit thinupload.properties so that the URL points to the upload.cgi script, move japplet.html, ThinUploadDemo.jar and thinupload.properties to your server, and change upload.cgi to set the save path.

Thin Image Upload works with any scripting or programming language that can accept a file upload. For users of technologies other than perl or PHP, simply follow the instructions in the developer's manual to set up the file uploading. Replace the HTML form with japplet.html and edit the properties file to ensure the URL points to the script that will accept the incoming files.

The 1.04 stable release of Thin Image Upload includes a minor bug fix related to client-side image resizing. The 2.0 beta development release boasts exciting new features, such as watermarking of photos, the ability to resume interrupted uploads, and a new progress monitor. The applet has also been made easier to configure, ensuring an even smoother user experience.
