Thin Liquid Film project is a fantastic application for Linux users. It enables you to easily and quickly convert video files into a format that you can play on video-capable iPods. I designed this incredible app after I was frustrated trying to convert video via command-line or a service menu without the ability to configure the resulting video file. TLF is built with the ffmpeg engine to do the encoding, and it is written in pyqt, so it should work well with a default KDE installation, and it is easy to install.
Thin Liquid Film has a range of useful and exciting features. With this app, you can batch process any number of files, change output settings for one, or many files, get detailed information about source video files, and save default settings for future sessions. You can also configure output quality settings, choose between Mpeg4 and H264 as the output codec, choose between 320 and 640 output video width while maintaining aspect ratio, and select between 1 or 2 pass encoding. You can rest assured that the app will display encoding progress due to the progress bar feature.
TLF uses ffmpeg as the encoding engine, and you can upload encoded files directly to your iPod with the app. Additionally, you can add files to existing or new video playlists on your iPod, set file information for upload to your iPod, and add files for encoding via the included service menu.
