Toxine

Toxine is a powerful text user interface that utilizes xine library to provide you with an interactive and script mode playback of all the streams you need. With Toxine syntax, you can playback all the streams that are supported by xine. It offers a plethora of visualisation plugins such as AAlib, X11, DXR3/HW+, etc. and an audio-only output option that you can make use of.

One of the best things about Toxine is that it uses the readline library, which enables command recall, auto-completion, and much more in interactive mode. Toxine is a perfect fit whether you want to use it in a console (which is perfect for DXR3/HW+ owners using TV output) or in an X11 terminal window. If you are a developer, testing/debugging your own plugins is a breeze with Toxine as you can reproduce actions without interaction and redirect outputs to files.

Furthermore, Toxine implements almost all of xine's API calls, making it ideal for learning how to implement your own xine library front-end. So, if you are a console lover or dislike GUIs, Toxine is perfect for you. As for requirements, you will need xine-lib >= 1rc3b.

In the latest release, Toxine has fixed a segfault issue and updated its help files, features that enable easy resizing, and have added a 'display events ' command.
