trace2html

If you are looking for a tool to generate a coverage report in HTML format, trace2html is the solution. Specifically designed for trace.py, it converts the execution coverage data obtained through the trace module of the standard Python library into a visually appealing set of HTML documents with a sortable summary and annotated source files.

Installing trace2html is straightforward. As usual, you can use `sudo easy_install -U trace2html` or simply extract the archive and follow the installation instructions: `sudo python setup.py install`.

Once installed, you can start using trace2html to generate coverage data from your test runner files. For example, you can use trace.py to generate the data in the 'counts' file:

`$ /usr/lib/python2.4/trace.py -mc -C coverage_dir -f counts my_testrunner.py`

Then, you can write a report in directory 'coverage_dir' from the collected data:

`$ trace2html.py -f counts -o coverage_dir`

You can also load data from several files, and the report is written to 'coverage_dir' by default:

`$ trace2html.py -f file1 -f2 file2`

Finally, you can visualize the report by opening the index.html file in your preferred browser. Simply run:

`$ firefox coverage_dir/index.html`

This release of trace2html fixes some packaging bugs that caused some files to be missing in the source distribution. So, if you were experiencing issues with missing files, those should now be resolved.
