Trout

Trout, a mind mapping utility, is a great tool to organize your thoughts and ideas. Adding nodes is easy, simply click on the map or drag URL's onto it. You can even paste content using normal clipboard methods. Editing the node is a breeze with one tap on the TAB key.

Customizing your nodes has never been easier; you have the option to assign, or automatically assign, colors, shapes and layers to them. Not only that, but links between nodes will grow where word commonality is found. Even words which share a common stem will cross-link, for example, jumps, jump and jumping will link to each other as equivalent terms.

If you need to export your work, dragging nodes out to your favorite text editor or browser is effortless. However, please note that Trout is not designed for security purposes (yet), so if you give a model to someone else, it may show where things are on your hard drive if you have them linked in the model. If this is a problem for you, refrain from swapping models.

Conveniently, the data is stored in an SQLLite database, meaning you can query the database at some point in the future using other applications. Overall, Trout is a noteworthy software, definitely worth considering for your organizing needs.
