TuxSaver is a 3D OpenGL screensaver designed particularly for KDE users. This screensaver offers two distinct settings where you can watch Tux the penguin live either on an iceberg or a tropical island. The setupdialog box further allows you to pick your favorite island to set the backdrop for Tux's leisurely activities.
TuxSaver offers some new features such as Tux being kidnapped by aliens or his submarine escapades that come packed with new stories and objects that include sound effects. The screensaver requires OpenGL and KDE 3.x to function seamlessly.
One thing to note is that you should avoid watching the screensaver for an extended period as it can cause motion sickness. However, if you fancy some changes to the settings or want to add new objects, sounds, or modify stories, send an email to the development team. The setupdialog box also provides detailed instructions on how to go about this without much difficulty.
This release of TuxSaver boasts some exciting upgrades, including a port to automake-1.7, autoconf-2.5x and kdevelop-3.x. There are also some significant bug fixes, with thanks to Matthew Tang for the bug report. Additionally, this release offers translation to Dutch and French, courtesy of Gérard Delafond.
