I recently came across a WIA based scanning component for Delphi 6 and 7 and wanted to share my experience in a software review. This component is specifically designed for legacy Delphi versions (D5-D7) and provides a contemporary scanning interface for hardware.
One of the issues with TWAIN based components is that their code is not being updated anymore, making them increasingly unreliable. Fortunately, the WIA interface provides a new and improved scanning solution for devices like scanners.
This software has a host of features including WIA detection, the ability to scan full or partial documents, set DPI, output to file, output to TPicture object, grayscale mode, abort and error events and no dialogs pop up during operation.
Additionally, users can also adjust the contrast and brightness of the scanned document. Overall, this component has proven to be a reliable and efficient scanning solution that I highly recommend to anyone working with legacy Delphi versions.
