uBASIC

uBASIC is a simple yet efficient BASIC interpreter which is designed to cater to applications and systems that suffer from severe memory constraints. Its non-interactive interpreter allows only the most basic BASIC functions including if/then/else, for/next, let, goto, gosub, print, and mathematical expressions. Additionally, it only supports integer variables, permitting variables that have single-character names.

Despite its simplicity, it still has a lot of functional capability. An API has been added that allows users to get and set BASIC variables. This addition makes it possible for the uBASIC code to be used in a much more practical sense such as in small scripting languages used in various applications.

The purpose of the program is to aid in the addition of a simple scripting language to applications or systems with memory constraints. For instance, web server applications in uIP or Contiki could benefit immensely from this program.

The program was made primarily for personal use, but the creator secretly hopes that it will be useful to others. The code is available for examination for anyone who is keen to learn about the creation of a really small BASIC interpreter.
