Userexitd for TSM

Userexitd for TSM is a versatile and customizable software tool designed to handle Tivoli Storage Manager events. This application allows administrators to filter events based on regular expressions and carry out various actions such as sending emails and SNMP traps, writing messages to syslog, and running scripts and programs.

The software consists of two parts – a shared library called userexit.so that is dynamically linked to the TSM Server as a user exit, and the userexitd daemon which runs as a separate service and communicates with the library via a socket. The daemon can be easily configured using an XML configuration file.

In the latest release, several bugs have been fixed, including an issue with defunct processes on AIX and Solaris, non-working "disabled" rule attribute, losing syslog identifier on configuration reload, and exiting normally with an invalid configuration. Additionally, the software has improved handling and logging of execution of child processes, error handling of file redirection, and now supports the "mandatory" attribute of the element.

Userexitd for TSM also includes support for altering the environment of child processes using the element, and has removed the arbitrary limit on the number of exec arguments. The software also includes a hint for 64-bit builds on Solaris, improved installation instructions, and an added userexitd.init script for RHEL.
