VersyPDF.Perl is an industry-strength PDF library that delivers high-quality and reliable solutions for diverse applications. The software enables users to write stand-alone commercial applications with capabilities to read, write, and edit PDF files.
I recently had the pleasure of using VersyPDF.Perl, a Perl library that allows for the creation and modification of PDF documents "on the fly". In my experience, VersyPDF.Perl delivered on its promise of being a high-quality and industry-strength PDF library, capable of meeting the requirements of even the most demanding and diverse applications.
With VersyPDF.Perl, I was able to write stand-alone and reliable commercial applications that could read, write, and edit PDF documents with ease. The library boasts an impressive set of features, including the ability to read and write a PDF document from or to a memory buffer or a file on a disk, creating new text, vector art, and images, and quick image embedding for a variety of file types.
One of my favorite features of the VersyPDF.Perl library was its support for Type1 and TrueType font embedding, which allowed for accurate text reproduction, as well as its support for Unicode text and standard PDF encodings, dynamic font subsetting, and full control over text positioning and character spacing. The library also offered support for all PDF color spaces and advanced pre-press options.
Other notable features of the VersyPDF.Perl library included full control over content positioning and all graphical attributes available in PDF, the ability to reuse resources such as images, fonts, and color spaces through object sharing resulting in smaller and more efficient documents, extensive bookmark creation and editing API, security options for new documents, and the ability to linearize documents (Fast Web View) and compress output PDF documents.
I found VersyPDF.Perl to be a well-rounded and comprehensive solution, offering the ability to insert or append new content to existing pages, rotate pages, use JBIG2, CCITT Fax, Flate/PNG, JPEG/DCT compression, and support for the standard PDF security handler (40 and 128 bit encryption). The library even includes the option to remove unused objects, Fill PDF forms, and read PDF form field values, and create new form fields while splitting, merging, and appending pages.
Notably, the VersyPDF.Perl library also supports digital signature, a variety of actions and annotations, EMF images parsing, and doesn't require any third-party software for creating or modifying PDF files. In my opinion, VersyPDF.Perl is a well-designed and effective PDF library that I would happily recommend to others.
