Vimball is a powerful archiver that is based on Vim. With this software, users can easily build, extract, and preview different kinds of archives. One of the most useful features of Vimball is the plugin that facilitates creating, extracting, and listing the contents of "vimball" archives (*.vba).

One of the key abilities of Vimball is its ability to create a "vimball" archive (*.vba) with ease. By issuing a simple command, users can create an archive that contains all the necessary files they need to store together. This process can be achieved by using the following command: :[range]MkVimball[!] filename. Vimball applies a simple rule for processing commands for creating archives by specifying where the usual Vim directory tree is.

Vimball also offers a convenient way to extract files from archives. By simply using the ':vim something.vba' and ':so%' commands, users can extract the necessary files and place them into the required directories. Additionally, the helptags command can be used to make available any doc/*.txt files' contents by the Vim help system, without any complicated processes.

Those who want to preview the contents of an archive instead of sourcing them to extract the contents may use ':VimballList,' an exceptional feature of Vimball. Moreover, Vimball requires that Vim must be installed to facilitate the archiving process.

The installation process of Vimball is quite simple. Users need to remove all vestiges of an old version of Vimball, and change the directory to the directory with the plugin/ and autoload/ directories where you want to install Vimball. Finally, the gunzip vimball.tar.gz tar -oxvf vimball.tar chmod a+r autoload/vimball.vim doc/pi_vimball.txt plugin/vimballPlugin.vim command should be issued.

In sum, Vimball is a groundbreaking software that anyone can use to build, extract, and preview archives effortlessly. Its plugin feature, ease of use, and documentation provide unparalleled convenience to users. Therefore, it is an excellent software tool for anyone to work with archives effectively.
