The VK Toolset project is a software program that aims to assist MPEG developers and hobbyists in understanding and creating conformant MPEG streams. The current version's primary focus lies in the MPEG system layer, which includes MPEG-1 System, MPEG-2 Program Stream, and MPEG-2 Transport bitstreams.
This release of the VK Toolset project contains several updates and new features. Some significant alterations include UI changes to the PCR Analysis screen, a new PTS/DTS graph (which graphs PTS/DTS values against the current PCR), and a UI log for STD buffer analysis. HTML documentation has also been updated. Additionally, this release uses a modern distro called SuSE 10 as the target build platform.
The VK-Tools packets still include the older Mandrake version (version 0.8f), which is now frozen. The win32 port has also been updated.
View_knot_dump has undergone some UI modifications. It no longer relies on the 'icons' subdirectory to display properly. If the local '.view_knot_view' configuration does not specify the location of vk_tafe, then it assumes it is somewhere in the PATH and will try to launch it. HTML documentation has been updated. Similar to VK Toolset, View_knot_dump's target build platform is now SuSE 10, and version 0.8f is still included in the VK-Tools packets. The plugins have been removed as they have been broken for five years.
View_knot_viewer, on the other hand, has no changes implemented in this release.
