Wavbreaker divides a wave file into several waves for easier handling.
Wavbreaker is a highly useful software tool to split a wave file into multiple waves. Its key purpose is to take a wave file and divide it into multiple wave files with a clean break at the right position, allowing you to burn the files to an audio CD without any dead air between the tracks. Note that this tool can only read wave files; you'll need to use an appropriate file conversion tool to convert formats like ogg, mp3, etc. before splitting them up.
The GUI for Wavbreaker is highly intuitive. The top portion of the GUI displays a summary of the entire wave file being worked on, while the middle panel offers a zoomed-in view that helps you select where to start playing the track and where the tool will make the final break when you hit the "break" button. Once the break has been made, another entry will be added to the bottom panel of the GUI. Here, you can change the file names and select/unselect tracks that will be saved when you eventually hit "save".
It's also worth noting that there is a command-line merger tool called Wavmerge that lets you merge wave files together. If you download a show and don't like how it was tracked, you can merge them together with Wavmerge and then break them back up with Wavbreaker. Note that the tool will only work on files that are alike - for example, ones that have a 44100 khz sample rate, 16-bit sample size, etc. If you need to perform any format conversion, we recommend using an external tool named Sox.
System requirements for Wavbreaker include libxml >= 2.0. In the latest release, the software includes PulseAudio support, better driver selection, and fix largefile issues in sample.c (Patch by Avuton Olrich). The latest release also adds the correct GPL text for "COPYING" (thanks to Dave Maley), support for loading TOC files into wavbreaker, and 24-bit audio support for ALSA and OSS (Patch by pigiron).
