Worms 3D

Worms have evolved over 700 million years to become the earth-filled tubes we see today. Team 17 has managed to do something similar with their Worms game in just 10 years, a remarkable feat. The latest incarnation of the game, Worms 3D for Mac, has gone three dimensional without losing any of its charm.

Team 17 has done a superb job of making the flatworms rounded; players won't encounter the annoying "it's in 3 dimensions and none of them are fun" issue here. What's more, the game expands on the strategic options in previous Worms titles, with cliffs, caves, roping, tunneling, multiple random levels, and real-time landscape changes. But rest assured, what they haven't done is mess up the game.

The developers explain that the issue when moving the game into three dimensions was developing the technology to generate and destroy landscapes randomly. Only once Team 17 was satisfied that the technology they had created allowed for both true 3D landscape deformation and the faithful representation of the traditional Worms visual style were they confident enough to create Worms 3D.
